Brenda's Story

I was just reading Lori's story - my pregnancy and birth is pretty much the opposite of hers! As soon as I discovered I was pregnant, at 6 weeks, I started feeling like I had a flu. A flu complete with nausea and vomiting (up to 8 times a day) for the whole nine months. It was not fun, to say the least. I was sent for an ultrasound at 34 weeks and was told that within 1 pound of accuaracy the baby already was 8.5 pounds.

I went in for my 40th week check-up and was HUGE. And told that if I hadnt delivered by the following week, they would induce me. For this 40th week, I was sent to the gynecologist, as the doctor I had seen the whole 9 months had hurt her knee and was out of the office. So I went back to make the following week's appointment with my regular doc and was told that as of Fri (3 days away) she would be on holidays for two weeks!? WHAT?? Instead, I booked myself in to see my doc two days later. When I saw her Thursday, I told her that I did not see her for nine months, only to have her leave me for the birth! She measured me again and saw that I was well over the normal 40 cm and convinced the gynecologist that I should be induced. At 4pm that day I checked myself into the hospital, on my doctors orders and sat in my room waiting for the doctor. to come up and administer the gel for the inducing process. He arrived at 6:40 pm and within minutes I started having mild contractions. At 915 pm my water broke and then the intense pain began.

My daughter Celina, was born at 2:47 am and weighed in at a meger 10 lbs 1 oz!!! My husband and I were shocked, to say the least! To this day, she remains well over the 90th percentile on the scales!
