Children's Wish Maker Parade |
The Children’s Wish Foundation celebrates its fourth annual national parade. The XanGo Wishmaker Parade occurs within 100 communities across Canada on October 18 and 19.
The event is a national parade style walk for the entire family. Each year families, individuals, corporate and community groups raise funds, collected by pledges, to grant wishes for children and families affected by life threatening illnesses. Last year, participants of the event raised $1.3 million, granting wishes for many children across Canada.
“The XanGo Wishmaker Parade is a way for wish families and their surrounding communities to get together and enjoy a memorable day,” says National Parade Coordinator, Lisa Keizer. “We appreciate those who participate in the Parade and generously help sponsor a wish that provides joy to a child’s life.”
Children’s Wish granted a special wish for Carter who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as an infant. His wish included breathing underwater with fish, riding in a Zodiac and crossing the finish line with world-class Canadian triathlete, Lisa Bentley. The opportunity remains to be a precious memory for Carter and his family. “The whole trip was unbelievable, like living a fairy tale. For the first time I can ever remember in my life, every single detail was perfect, like it was meant to be. These memories will sustain us for a very long time,” says Beth, Carter’s mother.
Communities nation-wide are encouraged to take part in their local Parade this October to help create the magic of a wish. For more information, or to make a donation, please visit www.childrenswish.ca or join our Facebook group: The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.
