Classic Storybooks: The Carrot Seed

The Carrot Seed

A little boy planted a carrot seed. His mother said, 'I'm afraid it won't come up.

The Carrot Seed, by Ruth Krauss, has been in print since it was first published in 1945. This simple story teaches patience and faith, with a little humour thrown in at the end. The Carrot Seed was illustrated by Ruth's husband, Crockett Johnson, creator of Harold and the Purple Crayon.
