Countdown to Christmas with Lunch Notes |
Get them excited - at school!
Looking for a fun way to countdown to the big day? Why not tuck a little lunch note into your child's lunch each day in December. On one side stamp or write the number of days 'til Christmas and the other write a little note to encourage them during their day... and to add to the excitement of the holiday season.
This project is simple so grab some supplies and get going. This is the kind of lunch treat your kids will remember for years to come.
What you'll need:
-
Countdown to Christmas Stamp
(Stampin' Up! Spotlight on Christmas Stamp Set ) - Ink Pad
- Card Stock or thick paper
- Paper Trimmer or Scissors
- Ruler
- Ribbon
- Hole Punch
- Pen
What you do:
Cut Cardstock: We cut our cardstock into two shapes. The 2-3 inch square lunch notes are the easiest and leave enough room on the back for a nice note. The folded lunch notes can be any size suitable for your child's lunch bag, we cut ours approx 3 1/2 by 2 1/2. If you are using the Stampin' Up! countdown stamp be sure to test it out before cutting. You will want a little room on either side of the stamp.
Fold Cardstock: If you are making the folded lunch notes fold in half, watching that the edges remain even. If you are making the square version go to the next step.
Stamp or Write Countdown: We used a cute countdown stamp from Stampin' Up! but you can write this on the cardstock as well. The stamp is a great little stamp and one you could easily use every year. Stamp the cardstock and let dry.
Add Ribbon: If you are making the square lunch notes, punch two small holes near the top of the cardstock. Watch that the holes are far enough apart that they don't break when you add and tie the ribbon. Cut a short piece of ribbon and put ends through to the front. Tie in a knot.
Add Extras: The cards are fine with the stamp alone but we found some scrapbook supplies that added to the folded cards. A simple edge made it pop!
Fill in Spaces: Fill in the numbers according to your child's days at school. Kindergarten students may not require as many as full time students.
Put them aside and don't forget to tuck them in the kids lunch bags starting December 1st! And don't be afraid to start late - the countdown is all month long!
