CPO Member Spotlight- ETs Mommy

By CanadianParents.com Community

What brought you to CPO, or how did you find us?

I found CPO last October while I was stressing out about nursing my 4 1/2 month old daughter. From the start breastfeeding had been a struggle for us. I was on another parenting site and asked about the issue I was having in a parenting forum. After looking around that forum I noticed that it was possible that it was going to take weeks for someone to answer my question and I needed an answer NOW! Using my trusty Google search engine I typed in "breasting feeding forum" and was directed to the wonderful CPO! The women on CPO were incredible! My questions were answered right away and everyone was very supportive. I only wound up breastfeeding DD for 4 months after that first post, but I know that those are 4 months she would not have had if it weren't for CPO.

Any favorite Boards?

I really enjoy the Community Boards and of course Chapter Chit Chat, which I moderate with Michele Leigh. I have been doing some lurking in  Expecting to Expect since we do plan on trying to conceive baby # 2 in a few months. I also spend time on the Teen and Young Parents Board, which I am new to moderating. Having my daughter just before my 21st birthday really sparked my interest in that board. Not to mention the fact that I come from teenage parents as well. It's nice to know that young parents have somewhere to go and talk with another parents about their similar situations.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Lately I don't have a lot of time for my hobbies. I recently started my own home-based business, so if my energy is not going into my family it is going to that. I do spend my quiet time here on CPO, on Facebook chatting with friends or reading. I love to read!

How many children do you have?

Right now we have one daughter, Ella, who is 15 months old. Hopefully by this time next year we will add another member to our family!

Do you have a particular parenting style or philosophy?

Right now my parenting style is still developing. I am still a new mom learning the ropes. I am trying to be more positive with Ella, trying to say "NO" only when I need to, which is hard with a toddler that wants to get into everything! I do know that I want to be there for my kids when events come up and to make sure I am listening to their needs as well.

What are you most looking forward to this fall?

This fall I am looking forward to working at home. I just took my home-based business full time, and while it is exciting and scary all in one, I am really excited that I get to have Ella at home with me more. I am also excited to be taking her to swimming lessons that just started. So much fun!
