CPO Member Spotlight- Lukes_mom

By CanadianParents.com Community

What brought you to CPO, or how did you find us?

It was in November 2004 and I had just found out I was pregnant.  I think I just googled Canadian parents and CPO came up.  I was so happy to see a site for Canadian parents!  The funny thing is I joined the June 2005 Birth Club board and just stayed there for the longest time.  I had no clue there were other boards out there until another member told me I was missing out.  I finally figured it out, and the rest is history.

Any favorite Boards?

There are so many boards I read.  I love reading Today's Hot Topics.  I must admit I do lurk quite a bit.  As a moderator I do have a soft spot for my boards.  Who’s Who, The Playroom, Quebec regional, Family Vacations and my new favourite Parents 35+.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I don’t think I’m much of a cook, but I do enjoy trying to bake.  I know my son loves my chocolate chip cookies.  As for my interests, anyone that knows me will tell you right away what a huge Habs fan I am.  I try to go to as many games as I can.  I have been very lucky this past season I got to travel to Florida and Boston to see them.  No matter where I live I will always be a fan!  Go Habs Go!

How many children do you have?

I have one amazing 3 and half year old son.  Lucas. “Luke”.  He is the absolute love of my life!  He makes me smile and laugh every single day!

Maybe a little something about your parenting style or parenting  philosophy...

I don’t think I really have a set regime.  I just try to live day by day.  I have learned to stay calm and not lose my patience so quick.  I think that makes for a happier Me and a happier Luke.  I think I can be strict without being mean.  Being a single mom has really taught me how to be a mom and a dad to Luke.  I can one second be baking with him and the next playing cars on the floor with him.

What are you most looking forward to this Spring/Summer?

This summer I am so looking forward to Luke’s 4th birthday!  I love watching him grow up.  It was  his first year in school, so this will be his first birthday with kids his own age.  I’m actually a little nervous about it too.  I am also looking forward to spending time with my boyfriend and his daughter too.  I am hoping we can get a few trips in before summer is over.  And of course I’m hoping to meet up with a few CPOers!

Is there anything else you'd like to share with the CPO Community?

I have made some really good friends on CPO online and in real life.  I have had many ups and downs in the last 4 years and the people here have always been there to help me celebrate or help me through whatever it was.  The end of my marriage was the most difficult thing I have ever been through and that is when I knew the people here were special. I couldn’t believe that total strangers were supporting me, and actually cared.  Alot of you gave me the courage to stand up to my ex.  I don’t know where I would be without CPO.  It has really changed my life for the better.  Thank you to everyone!
