CPO Member Spotlight- Shanora

Q: Tell us a little about yourself and what brought you to CPO?

I am a 28 year old mom of two. I find I am able to relate to a few different types of moms on this board as I was a young single mom with my first born. I was 19 when I had him. I am now in a common-law relationship with my DH, and we have become a blended family with our 2 children.
I am a car seat safety advocate, hopefully soon to be a Trained Tech. I have helped quite a few families chose the "right" seat, and helped to teach them how to install them correctly. I can, however, be a little over bearing with car seat safety at times, but my friends have no problem telling me to back off if needed. I'm very good natured and easy going, and not much gets me down. If it does, I re-bound fairly quickly. Although I can be shy at first, it doesn't take long for me to warm up to people.
I can't remember how I found CPO...I'm pretty sure I just did a random search for Canadian Forums, as I had been on a US one, and wanted to find parents in Canada. I do know however I am glad I did find it, as its' been a good source of information for me.

Q: Any Favorite Boards?

My Favorite boards at the moment are: General, Birth Clubs (I enjoy lurking and reading all the birth stories, I'm hoping to be joining my own club here soon....!!), Toddlers/The First Year/Preschool, Car Seat Safety, Baby Wearing (which is a new thing to me so learning everything I can from these ladies), and the Ontario board. I have a few...lol

Q: What are your hobbies and interests?

LOL...My friends would say that Car Seats are a BIG hobby, as I seem to do alot of research on them..LOL. I enjoy reading, and when I have a free moment I also love to make quilts (I am waiting until we move so that I can get a sewing room up and going again). I also love to sit out in my backyard and chat with good friends during the warmer months.

Q: How many children do you have?

I currently have 2 children, both boys! Joshua is almost 9 and Liam is almost 3.....*sigh* where has the time gone? They are my pride and joy!

Q: Do you have a particular parenting style?

I'm a fairly easy going, laid back parent. I prefer to let my kids explore and make their own choices (within reason, and safety)...and along with that realize their own mistakes.

Q: What are you looking most forward to this spring?

NO MORE SNOW.... Living in Southern Ontario has taken its toll on me this winter with all the snow we have gotten. I'm looking forward to being able to go for walks with my family, and also this summer is bringing a new beginning, as my DH will be graduating from his course, and we will be posted to another part of Canada! So thats going to be a whole new adventure for us!
