Dangling Christmas Bell Craft |
It’s fun to look up and find something unexpected, especially around festive holidays like Christmas. Hang this pretty little bell craft from a high ceiling, in a doorway, or in front of a window. This project is a great way for kids to practice fine motor skills through beading and cutting!
Supplies:
• 1 piece of paper• Markers, crayons, or pencil crayons
• Scissors
• Dental floss, string, thread, or fishing line
• Large jingle bell
• Wooden beads
Directions:
Draw a circle onto your paper using a small lunch plate as your circle template. Decorate both sides of the circle in Christmas colours using markers, crayons, or pencil crayons. We decorated ours with a pattern of stripes on both sides. Cut your circle out, and then make it into a spiral by starting on the outside edge and cutting in a circular pattern towards the centre*. Make a small hole in the centre of your spiral using the tip of a pen or pencil.
Thread your bell onto dental floss or thread, tying end to secure. Thread beads onto the line. To make gaps between the ‘sets’ of beads, position the lowest bead where you want it on the line, and then loop the thread through bead again to secure. Once you have completed beading the line, add your spiral by stringing thread through centre hole. Let spiral tumble down, around your beaded string.
*Tip: For young kids, draw a spiral pattern onto the circle, so they can follow the cutting line.
