Over the first two years of your baby's life, you will be changing over 5,000 diapers. In a country where at least 85% of parents use disposable diapers, 5,000 easily become 1.7 billion diapers, which are disposed of into our already overflowing Canadian landfill sites. Aside from lack of space, the most eminent threat that disposables have on our environment is the time it takes for a disposable diaper to degrade, research suggests that this could be as long as 500 years.
Essentially, we are wrapping our babies in a product that will out live them by more than four generations: nonbiodegradable garbage! Today, however, smallplanet is able to recycle disposable diapers and significantly reduce their impact on our environment.

smallplanet offers convenient home delivery of your favourite brand of disposable diapers and baby supplies in combination with the pick-up of used diapers for recycling at our facility. Our primary objective is to divert as many disposable diapers as possible from landfill sites, while providing quality customer service and convenience. Regarding the environmental impact of disposable diapers, two primary concerns are raised: the impact of nonbiodegradable material deposited into our landfill sites, and the health risk from untreated feces remaining on the disposed diaper. Raw feces from disposable diapers deposited in landfill sites creates a breeding ground for viruses and bacteria. As many as 100 new viruses can survive in soiled diapers for up to two weeks, including live polio viruses excreted from recently vaccinated babies. When a disposable diaper is recycled both of these concerns are eliminated.
