Enriching Each Other |
Music lessons, or the absence of lessons are the memories that cause most parents to consider lessons for their own children. Music lessons, or any lessons, might seem extravagant especially when money is tight. But they are worth much, much more than you may think.
Your child may grumble about practising or want to quit, but perserverance will be rewarded. Lessons yield an appreciation which will result in an increased awareness in the rhythms of the world. Whether it is poetry or cooking. They will come to understand that there are points and counterpoints in everything. They will be amazed at the new old music that they hear all aroung them. A newly covered rock classic, or cartoon music that was originally a classical composition. Children are in awe that the 1812 Overture used to have a real cannon shot in it. Watching Winnie the Pooh or Wayne's World will remind them that music has been around for a long, long time and what is old will often become new again.
As the strains of the scales march awkwardly through the house, only to be replaced with the fluid grace of practiced melodies, remember, this is a gift that gives to all of you. One that will be remembered always.
