How to Personalize your Mother's Day Card |
Any mom will tell you, it's the little things that make a difference, and that's especially true at Mother's Day.
"Adding a personal touch to your Mother's Day card this year will really make a difference to mom," says Jennifer Kinnon of Hallmark Canada. "She'll keep it forever and whenever she sees it, she'll smile."
Kinnon offers these simple ideas for making your card extra special:
Share a memory. Remind mom of a special moment you shared, whether from last week or years ago, and let her know why it's important to you.
Let her hear it from you. Hallmark now offers recordable sound cards with music that gives mom the pleasure of hearing your voice in a recorded message, followed by a song. It's also a great way to capture a moment in time when the kids are little.
Include drawings from the kids. Let them draw right on the card, or tuck a drawing inside. And don't forget to help them sign their masterpieces. She'll love a hand or foot print from the very little ones.
Try your hand at poetry. Mom will appreciate the effort it took you to create a poem just for her. Who says it has to rhyme?
Look for gifts you and the kids can personalize to accompany your card. Kinnon suggests dressing up a tote bag with a family photo, adding a hand-drawn design to a mug or decorating a frame, then putting a favourite photo inside.
