If I’ve been sick, did I have H1N1? |
I was told by someone with the flu that doctors are basically assuming all flus this year are H1N1. Is this true or are they testing somehow to identify what you have?
Doctors are dealing with a lot of people who have common ailments that are consistent with H1N1; each one has to decide on a case-by-case whether the symptoms are in fact H1N1 flu. One of the challenges for doctors right now is ensuring that they’re not missing something important that could look like H1N1.
Are there other flu strains circulating right now?
I am not aware of any other influenza strains circulating right now in Canada. There are, however, diseases that look like influenza virus and are not the flu.
