If you have a cold, is it necessary to wait to get the vaccine?

No, having a mild cold (runny nose without a fever) is not a reason to avoid getting the vaccine. If you have a cold with severe symptoms, such as fever, you should wait. One reason is because you may actually have the flu, another is that if you got the vaccine you would not be able to tell if your illness is getting worse or if it’s a side effect from vaccine.
