Momtalk- Podcasting 101
Podcasts have quickly become the latest trend in digital media. We at CanadianParents.com are pleased to bring to you our very own MomTalk Podcast!
Learning to use your mobile audio devices to listen to Momtalk and other Podcasts on the go can be a challenge for some. We hope to provide you with some simple directions on how to do this!
Step 1
Download Apple's iTunes- this is a free download from http://www.apple.com/ca/itunes/download/ (please note you must be running Windows XP or Vista)
If you're a visual person you can also view a tutorial on how to download iTunes here: http://www.apple.com/ca/itunes/tutorials/#download
Step 2
Now that you have iTunes installed, it's time to find Momtalk Podcast and subscribe! Once you have iTunes opened you'll see on the left hand side bar a menu, click on iTunes Store.
Step 3
You are now in the iTunes Store, on the top left side you'll see the iTunes Store Main Menu where you can select Podcasts. Once it has been clicked this will take you to a plethora of Podcasts! To find MomTalk quickly and easily, you can use the search feature on the top right hand corner of iTunes. Type in the words CanadianParents.com (without spaces) then Enter and MomTalk will appear. You can Subscribe from here.
Why would you want to subscribe?
This is the easiest way to get all new episodes of your favourite Podcasts. Every time you open iTunes any Podcasts you are subscribed to will automatically download into your iTunes Library. To get older episodes from before you subscribed, it's as easy as click the Get button. This way you can pick which topics are of interest to you.
But how do I get the Podcasts onto my Portable Device?
Step 4
If you’re using an Apple device like the iPod Nano, iPod Touch is as easy as checking off when episodes you'd like and clicking the Sync when your iPod has been connected to your PC. If you're using a different device like an mp3 player you will need to locate on your computer where these files are stored. If you right click on any Podcast in your iTunes Library and select "Get Info" this will give you the location or path where these files are on your PC. Many MP3 players will allow you to drag and drop the files onto your device similar to how you would move files around in directories make sure your device is connected to you PC most are connected via USB cables that are included with your device.
Step 5
Move your Podcast files to your Portable Media Device and you're all set to start listening!
