It's true: Making your bed can make your day! Scroll down for bedmaking instructions.

It doesn’t take much time, it doesn’t take any thought—but WOW, walking around a bedroom is a very different experience, depending on whether the bed is made or not.

More Reasons to make your bed every day:

  • Believe it or not, making your bed first thing in the morning is like a mini work-out. It helps you wake up, gets the blood flowing, and starts your day off with a feeling of accomplishment!
  • Climbing into a nicely made bed at night feels so much better.
  • It helps make your room look pretty and restful.
  • A well made bed creates a feeling of order in your room and may help kickstart more tidying activities throughout your day.
  • Saves time when actually going to bed, because there is no repositioning of the blankets

Follow this simple plan for making your bed each and every morning upon waking.

1.
Remove the top bedding leaving only the fitted sheet covering your matress. Smooth out the wrinkles ensuring that the corvers are well tucked in underneath the mattress. Brush off any put hairs or human skin.

2. Now lay the top sheet on top of the fitted sheet ensuring any cut or decorated edges are facing down on the fitted sheet. Make sure the ends are even on both sides and there is enough sheet to tuck in at the foot of the bed.

3. Tuck in the top sheet at both corners and bottom of the foot end of your bed making sure the sheet is taut and flat.

4. Place the blanket upon the sheet a couple of inches down making sure that the edges are even on both sides so that it can be tucked in. Tuck in the corners the same as you did with the top sheet. Tuck in the sheet and blanket at the foot of the bed and fold down the top sheet upon the blanket.

5. Next, put the pillow cases on your pillows and fluff.

6. If you have a spread, comforter or top blanket place that on top, making sure the ends are even.

7. If you are using a top spread, fold it down from the top about 12 inches. Place the pillow (s) on the fold and wrap the spead over the top.

8. Personalize with decorative pillows or stuffed animals.

Sheets: It's best to wash your sheets once a week in hot water.

Protect your mattress: Mattress pads come in a variety of styles and price ranges. Consider buying a waterproof mattress pad for a child with bedwetting issues.

Your Night stand: Add a final touch with flowers, candle, or a favourite book!

Be sure to leave the blankets off your bed for at least 1/2 hour to allow the sheets and mattress to air out (especially in hot damp weather.) Better still, when and where possible, hang your duvet out the window or on the clothesline to air out.Hmm, I wonder how many shift working spouses would like us stripping the bed while they're still asleepLOLJust being the devil's advocate!

Oooh, I hate when hubby is working night shift. My bed is never tidy and therefore my room is never tidy. Totally throws off my day!And night actually, I love clean, tight sheets and a well made bed.
