Introducing Sunlight Eco-Action Kids Awards Finalists!
Innovative kids from across Canada have been recognized for their efforts to improve the environment by being named finalists in the Sunlight Eco-Action Kids Awards program. Whether big or small tasks, these 18 kids have demonstrated a passion for the environment and their initiatives are making a mighty difference. Get inspired to go green by going online and see what these incredible kids are doing for a greener tomorrow at www.sunlightecoactionkids.ca.273 submissions for the award program were received from kids all across Canada, ranging in age from six to 12, who are working to make an environmental difference. Finalists were selected by a group of representatives from key environmental organizations including: Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Evergreen, the Pembina Institute, World Wildlife Fund Canada, Pollution Probe and Zerofootprint.
These finalists are improving the health of the environment in your community and believe that even small changes can make a mighty difference.
“I like to pick up stuff that people litter. I don’t like to see people making my Earth dirty and I try to pick up a few things everywhere I go,” says Breton, 6, from Cleveland, Nova Scotia.
Adrian, 8, from Stoney Creek agrees and explains, “I started “Green Saturdays” with my family to help the environment. Every weekend, we come up with one thing to do, change or start to help save the earth.”
Anna, 11, from Edmonton has started a group called Eco-Air, “We ask drivers to help keep Edmonton’s air healthy while saving money. When drivers agree not to idle, we reward them with a free sticker.”

Winners in each age category will receive $1,000 cash and $1,000 to donate to an environmental charity of their choice. They will also receive the title of “Ultimate Eco-Action Kid.” Voting deadline closes March 17, 2008.
