Dips & Sauces

  • Grubs with Ghoulish Goo

Little ghosts and goblins will enjoy dipping tender gnocchi (or “grubs” for the occasion) into a delicious warm and gooey sauce that really looks like ghoulish goo. It’s good stick-to-the-ribs fare that will fuel a chilly Halloween night.

  • Rainy Day Spinach Dip

When kids are watching TV, they can lose track of how much they’re putting away. So when a rainy afternoon comes along, just set down a bowl of Rainy Day Spinach Dip and some raw vegetables. They’ll love it, even if they know it’s good for them !

  • Dig-That-Earth-Day Hummus

Green Princess Cookbook Barbara Beery (2009) ChaptersIndigo.ca Amazon.ca The tastiest and freshest veggies are the ones you grow in your very own backyard. If you live in a large city, grow fruits, veggies, or herbs in pots or window boxes.

  • Strawberry Rhubarb Freezer Jam

This recipe came from a Clubhouse pamphlet that was in with my jars a few years ago.  It's very easy to make and perfect for early summer strawberries and rhubarb.

  • Steak Marinade

This recipe was originally supposed to be for steak and I have done it on steak kebabs... but it's even better on pork chops. It's very thick and sweet and doesn't need that long marinating.

  • Fast Tomato Salsa

This recipe can be made anytime of the year but is best with fresh ripe tomatoes.

  • Easy Guacamole

This is a great recipe to make all year long and is a perfect recipe to get the kids interested in cooking. During tomato season we get the kids to pick the ingredients from the garden, combine with store bought items and they create their own masterpiece!

  • Salmon Dip

This is simple but so good! A member of my Women's Institute always brings this to special events. It is best with wheat crackers such as Brettons or Wheat Thins.

  • Tomato French Dressing

    A nice tangy dressing!

  • Excellent Barbeque Sauce

I had to send in this recipe because I just used it this past weekend on some most excellent spare ribs. My 3-1/2 year old was inhaling ribs as fast as we would let him. He announced that I was the "bestest sauce making girl he ever knew!" So it **must** be a good recipe!

  • Guacamole

This is very easy to make and is great in a shallow bowl beside hot salsa, for dipping tortilla chips or pita crisps.

  • Layered Nacho Dip

Another must for Mom's nights out, I also like to take this to pot-lucks. Don't worry about having leftovers!

  • Dr Pepper Sauce

Here is a simple recipe that I use at my home to spice up different types of meat. You can use beef roast, pork chops, ribs, and chicken.

  • Quick Lowfat White Sauce

My mother invented this recipe when she was on Diet #462! It helped ME lose 19 pounds! We never get tired of it, because the variations you can do with it are endless. We serve it over pasta and it's delicious. Enjoy!

  • Cranberry Sauce

I love this sauce because it combines the flavours of cranberries, apples, and cinnamon. Try it, you will love it!
