Barb's French Toast

This is a recipe my mom makes every Christmas morning. It was passed to her from her best friend, Barb, hence the name. Serves 6.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 12 slices of bread
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 250g cream cheese (about one package)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

 

Directions

1. The night before butter a 9x13 inch deep glass dish.

2. Butter six slices of bread and line the bottom of pan with the bread.

3. Cover bread with 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Dot the bread with half the cream cheese package.

4. Butter six more slices of bread (both sides) and lay on top. Repeat brown sugar, cinnamon spread and cream cheese layer.

5. Mix eggs, milk, vanilla and pour overtop. Cover with plastic wrap. Leave in fridge over night.

6. In the morning heat oven to 350°. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until top is brown.
