Campfire Bannock

My daughter learned how to cook bannock while on a field trip.  This is easy to make and great for the back yard or while camping.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 8 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 cups cold water

Directions

Mix dry ingredients together.  Add water a little at a time until you have a thick batter that pours.

Cooking options: Pour into cast iron pan and cook on fire or reduce water to make a dough consistency and wrap batter around a stick and cook over the fire.  A great alternative is to wrap batter around a hotdog on a stick!

add some cinnamon, nutmeg, nuts and raisins and it makes a great breakfast bread. Cut in half lengthwise spread with jam or peanut butter. MMMmmm.
