Christmas Candy Pops |
These holiday gumdrop candy pops are sure to be a hit with the kids.
They make great party favors, too. I’ve provided instructions for an elf
and a holly bush, but after a bit of practice, you’ll be able to create
a Santa, snowman, Christmas tree, or anything else you want.
Ingredients
For one Elf- 2 large green gumdrops
- Candy stick (lollipop stick)
- 1 large white gumdrop
- 2 small green gumdrops
- 1 white mini gumdrop
- 4 toothpicks
- 3 green jellybeans
- 2 soft black licorice drops
- 2 small red gumdrops
- Candy sprinkles
- Black or red string licorice
For one Holly Bush
- Candy stick (lollipop stick)
- 4 to 6 spearmint candy leaves
- 3 to 4 small red gumdrops
Directions
Make an Elf
1. Thread the large green gumdrops, flattened sides together,
onto the stick to form a body.
2. Add the large white gumdrop as a head. Place the smaller
green gumdrops as a hat, topping them off with a white
mini gumdrop.
3. To make each leg, carefully push a toothpick through one
jellybean and one licorice drop. Attach the leg to the body.
4. Cut a toothpick and the remaining jellybean in half and
thread a half jellybean, along with a small red gumdrop,
onto the toothpick piece to make an arm. Attach it to the
upper part of the body. Repeat for the other arm.
5. Use a toothpick to poke small holes in the head for eyes
and nose. Press sprinkles in the holes, creating the face.
Gently poke a curve on the face in the shape of a smile.
Press a small piece of licorice string into the curve.
6. Cut a 6-in/15-cm piece of licorice string and tie it around
the elf’s neck as a scarf.
Make a Holly Bush
1. Thread the spearmint candy leaves onto the candy stick.
2. Cut the red gumdrops into pieces to make holly berries;
press the cut sides onto the leaves.
