Christmas Eggnog

Impress your guests with this rich and creamy eggnog recipe. 

Ingredients

  • 12 eggs, separated
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 6 cups milk
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg

Directions

1. Day before serving: In a large bowl beat egg yolks with mixer at high speed gradually sprinkle in sugar. Beat until mixture is thick and light colored, about 15 minutes. Frequently scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Beat in bourbon and brandy drop by drop to prevent curdling yolks. Cover and chill.

2. About 20 minutes before serving: In a large bowl with mixer at high speed beat egg whites until soft peak form. In large chilled punch bowl stir yolk mixture, with milk and nutmeg fold whites into mixture. To serve ladle into glasses or mugs.

    how much bourbon and brandy?

    @ Helene 1/2 cup of Brandy and 1/2 a cup of Bourbon. This sounds yummy, can't wait to try it. My Aunt used to make homemade nog and I'm hoping this is very similar if not the exact recipe.Happy Holidays everyone!

    I love this version, but as I had a bad experience with spiked nog, I was looking for a non-alcoholic version. Do you have an alternative to the alcohol to add?
