Ingredients
Salsa
- 1/2 jar salsa (use your favourite brand)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Guacamole
- 3 ripe large avocados (about 1 1/2 lb) pitted, peeled
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt (kosher or sea salt)
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper sauce
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
Tortilla Chips Strips
Instead of a bag of chips bought at the store, why not make a basket of these inventive tortilla Strips.
- 6 burrito size flour tortillas
- Olive oil
Directions
Guacamole
- In medium bowl, place avocados; coarsely mash.
- Stir in remaining guacamole ingredients. Spoon guacamole into shallow serving bowl; top with salsa.
Tip: Look for avocados that are firm, but yield to gentle pressure. If they are not quite ripe, place avocados in a paper bag, and let ripen at room temperature.
Tortilla Chips Strips
- Heat oven to 375. Set out 2 baking sheets. Use kitchen scissors or a pizza cutter to gut into ¼ inch strips. Spread the strips on the baking sheets. The strips should not overlap. Brush the strips with olive oil. For more flavour you can sprinkle dried herbs like oregano or rosemary
- Bake strips for 5 minute and then flip them using a pair of tongs bake for additional 5 minutes or until light brown
- Cool on the sheet
Serving tip: These are great served in a nice drinking glass the sheet
