Mom's Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

By Quilting Mom, Ontario

Everyone tells me this recipe is the absolute best they've ever had. And it is the only recipe I have not altered in some way, okay maybe I did one little change I added vanilla.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter softened
  • 2 cups lightly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp hot water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 2/3 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions

  1. Beat together butter, brown sugar, eggs, hot water and vanilla.  Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Stir in 1 package (300 g) Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Chipits. It must be milk chocolate!
  3. Drop from small spoon onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 375ºF (190ºC) for 8-9 mins.

The key to chewy cookies is to not overbake them. Take them out when the tops just start to crack, 9 mins max, and you will have moist chewy cookies. It works best if you use an air-bake cookie sheet.
