Mummy Rolls

Mummy Rolls

By Holly Klein

Made of store-bought dough, one egg and Nutella, these Mummy Rolls are simple to make, but will have your family thinking you were up all night baking.

Ingredients

  • croissant dough
  • Nutella
  • 1 egg
  • Icing or candy corn (for eyes)

Tips: I used a croissant dough from one of those tubes in the refrigerator section of the grocery store. It worked great. One tube would make 2 large Mummies (the size instructed), or four small ones (about half the size).

Last time I used icing for the eyes. This time I cut the end of candy corn. Both work great, but add the candy eyes when the Nutella is still warm, and the icing when it's cooled.

Directions

1. Roll out croissant dough. (Mine ended up being 9 by 7 inches.)

2. Slice dough at an angle. (Please refer to step-by-step instructions for images.)

3. Place spoonfuls of Nutella in the middle and wrap Mummies, using one side of dough at a time.

4. Brush Mummy with raw scrambled egg

5. Place Mummy in preheated 350...until the top is lightly browned. (I set the oven to the temp instructed on the dough tube, and kept a close eye on the Mummies, as my oven is hot and my patience is low. Please watch your Mummies carefully and gauge this for yourself.)

6. Add eyes when Nutella is still soft. Enjoy!
