Old-Fashioned, Really Grilled Ham & Cheese

Grilled cheese never tasted better! Grill up a platter of these sandwiches for a quick weeknight dinner.

If you're planning a tailgate party prep the sandwiches the night before; wrap and refrigerate and you'll be ready to go!

Ingredients

  • 1⁄4 cup butter 60 mL
  • 16 slices Texas toast or thick-sliced 16 white or whole wheat sandwich bread
  • 16 thick (or double up) slices 16 processed cheese
  • 24 slices Black Forest ham, 24 in loose rolls
  • Salt and freshly ground
  • black pepper

Materials

Napoleon® Multi-Grill Basket

Directions

  • Preheat grill to medium (350ºF/175ºC).
  • Generously butter one side of each slice of bread. Place 8 slices butter side down.
  • Lay 1 slice of processed cheese on each piece of bread, top with 2 rolls of ham, then another slice of cheese. Top with the remaining bread slices, butter side up.
  • Secure the sandwiches snugly in the multi-grill basket. Grill for 4 to 5 minutes a side, turning frequently to prevent burning. Grill until the sandwiches are golden brown and crisp, and cheese is melted.
  • Slice on the diagonal and season with salt and pepper. Serve with your favourite mustard or hot sauce on the side.
