Omelette in a Bag

By Julia M.

You will not believe how easy this recipe is.  We tried it for the first time a few years ago during a summer camping trip.  We now make them at home because they taste so good!

Ingredients

  • Small cubes of cooked meat (ham, chicken, steak, bacon)
  • Shredded cheese
  • Onions, diced
  • Mushrooms, sliced
  • Green or Red Peppers, diced
  • Any ingredient you enjoy in an omelette.
  • Eggs, 2 per omelette
  • Large Tortilla or Toast

Directions

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil (on campfire or stove)
  2. Prepare ingredients and place in small bowls so each person can select their favourite ingredients.
  3. Crack 2 eggs into a ziplock bag.  Shake the bag to mix the egg up.
  4. Add ingredients to the bag according to taste.
  5. Ziplock the bag removing as much air as possible.
  6. Drop into bowling water for approximately 3 minutes.
  7. Open bag and "roll" out onto your plate!
  8. Enjoy with toast or roll up inside a large flour tortilla.

I shudder to think of the chemicals leached from the heated plastic ziplock into the food. Not a recipe that I'd recommend.

I am a Girl Guider Leader and we received an emial about the toxins inside a ziploc bag when heated..I would not suggest this to anyone..
