Perfect Pizza Dough - Suppertime Survival |
Make up a batch or two of Perfect Pizza Dough ahead of time and keep it hand in the fridge or freezer for quick meals or snacks. Bags of prepared pizza dough can be purchased at the grocery store. One bag usually makes two 12-inch (30 cm) pizza rounds.
Ingredients
- 2 cups (500 ml) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) whole wheat flour
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) quick-rising instant yeast
- 1 tsp (5 ml) granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp (2 ml) salt
- 1 cup (250 ml) warm water
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil
Directions
- In large bowl, combine all-purpose and whole wheat flours, yeast, sugar and salt. Stir in water and oil until blended.
- Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead for 8 to 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic, adding more flour as required to prevent dough from sticking. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Divide dough into 2 balls; flatten into 2 disks.
Makes enough for two 12-inch (30 cm) rounds or 8 pizza pockets.
