Quick Lowfat White Sauce |
My mother invented this recipe when she was on Diet #462! It helped ME lose 19 pounds! We never get tired of it, because the variations you can do with it are endless. We serve it over pasta and it's delicious. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- One and a half cups of 1% or skim milk
- One heaping teaspoon of chicken bouillion powder
- Seasonings to taste (ie., garlic, pepper, dill, etc.)
- One and a half heaping tablespoons cornstarch
Directions
Pour milk into a microwaveable bowl. Add chicken bouillion powder, seasonings and cornstarch. Use a whisk to stir, making sure that all the powder has dissolved. Place in the microwave for two minutes. Stir. Add any additional ingredients (as suggested above) and return to the microwave for 3 minutes. Stir and add to pasta.
*If the sauce is too thick, add a little more milk -- if the sauce isn't thick enough, add a little more cornstarch.
*Microwave times should be adjusted according to your microwave.
You can add anything you want to this sauce. We serve it on pasta, so we add all kinds of stuff to it, such as:
- Vegetables (frozen or fresh)
- Cut-up precooked turkey sausages
- Canned clams
- Crabmeat (real or imitation)
- Cut-up pre-cooked chicken breast pieces
You are only limited by your imagination!
