Santa's Breakfast

By Member Recipe: The Karageorgos Family

I got this recipe a couple years ago, and have made it at Christmas ever since. I prepare it Xmas Eve. and it sits in the fridge until Xmas morn when you put it in to cook. While you're opening gifts, its cooking and when your finished unwrapping, breakfast is ready to eat.

Ingredients

  • 16 slices of bread (crusts removed)
  • cooked bacon(1/4 to 1/2 lb.)
  • cubed cheddar cheese (1 cup or so)
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. worchestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion (optional)

Directions

Grease 9x13 pan. Put 8 slices of bread (crusts removed) in bottom of pan. Sprinkle cooked bacon and cubed cheddar cheese over bread. Place 8 more slices of bread over mixture.

Mix together the eggs, milk, salt and pepper, dry mustard, worchestershire sauce, onion.

Pour over bread and leave in fridge until Xmas morning. (overnight) I usually sprinkle some cheese on top too! Bake uncovered 350 degrees for 1 hour. Let sit for 5 minutes.
