Slow Cook Stew

This is one of my favourite recipes when I am busy and on the go, and it is winter. This goes wonderfully with homemade bread, and you can control how thick you like it by the amount of water you add. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb - 1 1/2 lbs of stewing beef, chopped up into small pieces
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • med package of mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup of pearl barley
  • 1 large can (28 oz) of tomatoes
  • 2 cans of beef consumme soup, plus a can of water
  • 1 can of tomato paste (small)
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • tsp of oregano, italian seasoning, salt
  • tbsp of basil
  • add pepper to taste

Directions

You simply take everything listed above and throw it into a crockpot before leaving for work in the morning. It is ready when you come home!
