This was excellent! I do have to mention that I didn't have any breadcrumbs so I substituted them for quick oats, delicious! It was really quick to prep as I have an apple corer/slicer. I made this in my oval 6qt Versaware Pro Crock Pot and it covered the bottom perfectly and was cooked in about 3 hours on low. If you like your apples a little firmer you may need less time though.

This recipe was also a hit at our house. We love apples and they are always available and preparing a recipe like this in a slow cooker is so much easier too! I tested this recipe twice, once with a small round slow cooker but I found that the apples cooked too quickly and the topping was too thick. My second test (I used the All-Clad 6.5Qt Electric Slow Cooker) and I was much happier. The oval shapes makes this a bit more like the traditional dish you would cook in the oven. A bit of apple and a bit of topping for each person.

I made this last night and it was a huge hit with my family! My son doesn't like anything with cinnamon, but because it uses so little, he didn't even know it was in there (and i didn't tell him!). I didn't have any nutmet or walnuts so didn't use them and it was still very good. I was surprised that the topping didn't turn mushy in the crockpot. The topping wasn't as crunchy as it would have been if it had been cooked in the oven, but it was still really good with lots of flavour. We'll definitely be making this one again! Note - 2 hours on high in my corningware crockpot was perfect.
