Slow Cooker Italian Cheesy Tortellini |
|

This is the most requested recipe on our menu. Easy and very tasty!
Ingredients
- 3 italian sausages, casing removed.
- 1/2 pound ground turkey or chicken
- 1 jar of pureed tomatoes
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms (or 1 can)
- 1 can italian style stewed tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 package of fresh tortellini
- 1 cup shredded cheese (mozza, cheddar of half each)
Directions
- Brown sausage meat and ground turkey, pour into slow cooker
- Add tomato puree, mushrooms, stewed tomatoes and sugar. Stir.
- Cook on low for 8 hours. 30 minutes before eating add tortellini and stir to cover with sauce. Top with cheese. Cook for an additional 30 minutes or until the pasta is tender. Serve and enjoy!

Our kids loved this recipe. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the taste was out of this world. A new favourite at our house! [Slow cooker used: Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6qt]

What size is a 'jar' of pureed tomatoes, a 'can' of stewed tomatoes and a 'package' of tortellini? This isn't helpful when I want to use my own produce or make the tortellini.

would it be possible to give the amounts required for the puree and stewed tomatoes as well as the pasta.

My comment is the same as above. This sounds so good but need to know what size of cans/jars for tomatoes?

I used a 660ml jar of strained tomatoes, 19oz can of stewed tomatoes, and 600g package of tortellini noodles. Turned out nice.
