Toddlers' Fruit Smoothie Breakfast

Toddlers' Fruit Smoothie Breakfast

By Louise Harnett

My 19-month-old daughter and I drink these about three times a week. As soon as she hears the blender start, she runs into the kitchen yelling, "Smoothie! Smoothie!" Excellent nutrition, too: 3 out of 4 food groups!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (2% or homo)
  • 1 cup ice cubes (about 12)
  • 1/3 can frozen concentrate juice (orange or any orange-blend is best)
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • fruit of choice: we use whatever is on hand, usually 1 banana, 1 peach, handful of blueberries and/or strawberries
  • sprinkle of bran
  • sprinkle of cinnamon-sugar

Directions

Put first six ingredients in blender and mix until smooth. Pour into cups. Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar on top. Toddlers may prefer to use a straw: it's very thick! Makes about 6 cups.
